Lokadharmi’s 27th Annual Day and World Theatre Day 2024 Celebration

Lokadharmi celebrated its 27th Annual Day and World Theatre Day 2023 on March 24th. The event was inaugurated by Retd Justice J Alexander Thomas and graced by several distinguished guests, including M Thomas Mathew, Vinay Forrt, Anand Ekarshi, Zarin Shihab, Anathapadmanabhan, Viswanatha Pulavar, Samkutty Pattamkary, Anna Beatriz Pestana (Brazil), Shaji Joseph, Shobha Menon, and Dr. KG Poulose.

During the celebration, the book Really Sorry Ithoru Shakespeare Nadakamalla, written by Dr. Chandradasan, Founder and Artistic Director of Lokadharmi, was officially launched. The book was published by M Thomas Mathew and received by theatre director, playwright, and art designer Samkutty Pattamkary. M Thomas Mathew delivered the keynote address, while KG Poulose presented the World Theatre Day message. Samkutty Pattamkary introduced the newly published book.

The event also honored the award winners of the year. The Malayalam feature film Aattam, which has received numerous accolades at various film festivals worldwide, was directed and featured senior actors from Lokadharmi. The team members honored included:

Vishwanatha Pulavar received this year’s Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Puraskar, Jebin Jesmes was awarded the Bahrain Prathibha Puraskaram for playwriting, and our Mazhavillu children’s theatre members Lakshmi Menon, Aabha Unni Sathar, Thanmayie Balasuma, and Gowri Murali were recognized for winning prizes at state and district level competitions in school and university art festivals.

The event concluded with the screening of Aattam, directed by Anand Ekarshi.
